Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is one of the most beautiful and unique cities in Sri Lanka, situated in the central highlands at an elevation of about 1,800 meters above sea level. Due to its cool climate and misty atmosphere, it is popularly known as “Little England.” The city was developed during the British colonial period as a hill station and still retains many colonial-era buildings, bungalows, and traditions.

The area around Nuwara Eliya is famous for its vast tea plantations, which play a major role in Sri Lanka’s tea industry. Many tea factories in the region produce world-renowned Ceylon tea, and visitors can observe the tea-making process while enjoying scenic views of rolling hills and lush greenery.
